On Monday, January 20, our church office will be closed for the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday in recognition of the significance of the great Civil Rights leader’s life, and our call to continue his work for equality and justice.
The annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. March will begin at 9:00 a.m. at the Mediacom Ice Park, followed by a celebration of community through the arts at the Gillioz Theater that will include recognition of the Springfield Public School student winners of the essay and art contests. In addition, donations of outerwear (hats, gloves, scarfs, etc.) for SPS students will be collected at the ice park and at the Gilloz Theater.
If you have the day off on MLK Day, we invite you to join our South Street team to participate in the march. We will meet in the narthex at 8:30 a.m. If you are not able to join us for the march, we encourage you to observe the spirit of the holiday by doing something that will make a difference in your own way.
